Learn to Ride

Roadsafe's Learn to Ride course teaches the absolute beginner to ride a motorcycle (with clutch and gears), or scooter (automatic). It is a refresher course for people who have not ridden for some time, or have had little riding experience, and want more riding practise in preparation for Basic Handling Skills. Riders can successfully complete both the Learn to Ride and Basic Handling Skills courses in the same day.

Description

Our Learn to Ride course is good preparation for progressing to our Basic Handling Skills course and test. Both courses can be completed on the same day with successful results.

Learn to Ride includes free use of motorcycle (with clutch and gears), helmet, gloves and wet weather gear if required.

Also good for scooter riders wanting to learn how to use the clutch and gears to progress to a motorcycle. Scooter riders will need to provide their own automatic scooter to use.

Prerequisites

Essential - You must be able to competently ride a bicycle ie. have already gained balance skills. It is highly recommended that you have manual car driving experience, so you understand the use of the clutch and gears. If you have NOT driven a manual car previously, please book your Learn to Ride course at our Lower Hutt/Petone venue.

Gain the first part of your Learner License by completing Roadsafe's Basic Handling Skills course, which includes training and practise for your Basic Handling Skills test (and includes the test itself). Returning riders who have a license find this is a great course to help them brush up on their basic riding techniques in the safety of an off-road area, before investing in the purchase of their own motorcycle.
