Scooter Survival

The Scooter Survival course is for riders on automatic scooters/mopeds, who are currently riding on the road, primarily in urban environments or commuting. It covers the crucial skills you need to stay safe when riding on the road.

Description

The Scooter Survival course takes riders on a range of urban roads and intersections, corners, and riding exercises in a carpark.

Courses are run in small groups, which allows for individual tuition and feedback to help each rider improve.

The first part of the course includes introductions and some discussion, so as soon as you start riding you have some additional knowledge and skills to put into practise.

Topics may include:

  • Pre-ride checks for your bike
  • Safety gear
  • Observation techniques
  • Interaction with other road users
  • Dealing with traffic
  • Scooter control – slow manoeuvring, emergency braking
  • Positioning to see and be seen
  • Cornering
  • Common commuter hazards
